Health Walk - Thursday 21st February 2013

It was dry, sunny and a biting wind for our walk from the Barn today.  It turned out to be a lovely morning with plenty of sunshine.  We were up to sixteen again, June and Jim were back with us.

No one stepped forward to lead so Michael led away from the Barn.  Peter took over as Back Marker.

We set off towards the Stone Bridge and crossed over.  Here we had planned for two of the walkers and a leader to take a short cut back to the Barn - green route on the map below.  The rest of us walked up the northern steps to the Lake and round the Lake.

Leaving the Lake we walked the short distance up the field and returned to entrance to Dog Kennel Wood.

We walked up into Dog Kennel Wood eventually getting into Gravel Hole Wood.  I'm not sure of the exact location of photos 2, 3 & 4 but they are near enough on the map below.

We turned right on to the cycle track intending to go over the New Bridge but we seemed to be ahead of time so by agreement we carried on along the cycle track back to the Stone Bridge.  At the Stone Bridge we still seemed to have plenty of time so the energetic ones amongst us, eight, carried on along the cycle track and back to the Barn by the Cinder Path while the remaining five of us walked back up the hill to the Barn.

Ruth had laid out the cups etc. and Sue, Josie and Carmel had begun to organise the tea/coffee and biscuits.

The shorter walk took 45 minutes, the interim one 50 minutes and the longer one 60 minutes.
