Health Walk - Thursday 18th July 2013

The glorious summer continues!  There were fifteen of us, gathered at the Barn, again with Michael the leader.  We've done so many walks it is becoming hard to dream up a fresh one but today we managed, I think it's the first time we've actually done this one from the barn.  David acted as Backmarker and Leader of the shorter walk.

We all walked down Berkeley Drive and on to Shady Lane were we headed south.  After a while we took the footpath on the left down the meadow to Town Brow.  I think it was a meadow, the grass was unusual and remarkable in that I don't remember seeing any flowers.

The stiles leading off Shady Lane, in the meadow and onto Town Brow were difficult for some of us.

Going down Town Brow we turned into the Park again before the river.  One of us elected to carry on and meet us again in the Town Brow Picnic Area, while the rest of us braved the stepping stones over the river - fourteen out of fifteen - not bad.

We followed the river bank heading north and came out on to the cycle track at the entrance to Gravel Hole Wood.  Here we gathered together and chose the way ahead.  The majority of us elected to go through the woods and back over the Stone Bridge to the Barn.  David led the others back up through the Pinetum to the Barn.

Again we were privileged to use the classroom for our refreshments afterwards.
