2008 Frostbite Series

Frostbite 4

Sunday 2nd November 2008

Another sunny and breezy weekend at Glasson, which was very welcome after the last few disappointments.

Saturday was the sunniest day and also had the most boats on the water.

Ivan took John Broadhead out in his Waferer and John is reported to have enjoyed the outing and been impressed by the Wayfarer. Helen and Andy Speer came up and patrolled in the rescue boat. Ian and Jessica sailed their GP14 and Barbara and Rebecca took turns in the Topper. Andy Hunter was out in his Graduate with a friend. Jaja and I were out on the Dart 15.

Also on the water was Giles on his windsurfer, Derek in his kayak and Michael and Paul Gill in their canoe.

Sunday was a bit cloudy but we had the occasional bursts of sunshine. Andy was out in his Graduate, this time with a different crew. Aurora launched and sailed off to spend the night at Sunderland and SkylArk came out for the winter.

Martin and Samantha, RS400, Ivan and John, Wayfarer and Michael, Dart 15 took part in the next two races for the Frostbite Trophy.

Three laps, starting through the gate made by T & A, Hp, Basilp, Ap, 18s & Ts. Same course for both races.

There was a bit of excitement before the start of the first race, Michael's mainsheet pulley system burst apart but fortunately, all the bits fell on the trampoline so he was able to sort it out and race, albeit one lap behind.   As the Dart is the fastest boat there was no doubt it was last in the first race

Four races have now been completed. Although Martin & Samantha and Nick have won two races each they still need to take part in more races to qualify, having done less than half of the races plus one race.

Therefore Ivan is leading with 6 points and Michael is second with 9 points.
