Today was a special day when the Club holds its Tea and Cake Day to raise money for the RNLI.  Despite the inclement weather I believe a good amount was raised.

The last of the new marks to go out waiting for the tide to start coming in.  The mark in position, have I got it too close to the shore? and removing the loading platform afterwards .  Many thanks once again to Peter Johnson for helping to put it out.

The sad news is that the big red mark S has been dented or it's contracted or something.

Many thanks Steve Speakman, who did the OOD duty, also for taking the photos.  Many thanks also to Peter Johnson and Ian Sharples who manned the Patrol Boat.

It was overcast with spots of rain.  The wind was F2-3, westnorthwest

Getting ready for the start

The course for the first race was As - Gs - 18s - Ss over two laps.  It was very basic course but there wasn't enough water round the other marks!

Big John winner of the first race

Having 'learnt' the first course the competitors were reluctant to change it even though all the marks were by now accessible.  However we decided to make it four laps for the fast boats and three for the slow ones.

Ivan winner of the second race

Dave is now getting used to the modified ISO, have I given him a too generous handicap, see second race results?  It was Alex's first outing on the Topper, kindly loaned by Dave, and apart from a few frustrations he really enjoyed his sailing.  Steve has just bought Alex's Heron so we'll have to start sharing the OOD duties unless someone else comes forward.  Anyone got a Topper for sale for Alex?
