Plan B features eighteen artists chosen by guest curator Max Mason. Using a range of materials that stretches from pencil to collage and computer, only one or two of these artists treat drawing as an end in itself. For the rest, working in a variety of media from painting and sculpture to film and animation, it's a jotting, an aide-memoire, a preparatory sketch or blueprint, an intermediate part of their process somewhare along the line between thought and realisation.
What every one of them is doing nevertheless, is starting from observation, memory or imagination, and ending with drawing; drawing is present here as another way of seeing and thinking. Discovering, as Guston says.
