Health Walk - Tuesday 29th December 2015

Photos by Michael - Please click on photos to see a larger one

A lovely sunny morning and a good turnout.

The Barn was officially closed but Alison, our Education Officer, opened up for us and them joined the walk.

Today we had sixteen walkers - Alison, Bernadette D, Brian, Carol, Carole, Damian, David B, Elizabeth H, Elizabeth M, Graham, Ian, James, Maureen, Michael, Peter and Sue.  Seven males, is that a record male turnout?

Michael was leading and we set off into the Pinetum and up to the viewing area looking for birds on the feeders but we frightened them all off except one Great Tit.

We carried on to the the Wooden Bridge where we encountered the Rangers making extensive repairs to the path.  We turned right to walk up into Gravel Hole Wood.

We passed through Dog Kennel Wood and walked up into the Field and eventually passed the Ponderosa and descended into Green Wood.  We walked along the top of Green Wood, descending to Hawks Clough again, back into the Field and down the steps to the Lake

As the Lake opened up before we saw the Grebe and lots of Mallards and Black Headed Gulls.

Now split into two groups.

Peter, leading the short walk, and Sue didn't follow us into the Pinetum but walked down Snake Hill.  They walked along the river and back up into the Pinetum.

Back at the Barn we again enjoyed our refreshments particularly the Stollen cake that Alison brought

I'm sorry there are only a few photos, perhaps Damian will send me some.
