Health Walk - Thursday 26th May 2016

Photos by Michael - Please click on photos to see a larger one

Today we had fourteen walkers - Bernadette, Carmel, Carol, Colin D, David, Graham, Helen G, Linda E, Linda P, Mary, Michael, Paul, Peter, Suzie and Education Alison's dog Freddie.

We started in light drizzle but it got heavier towards the end but we had a pleasant walk.

Helen volunteered to lead and we set off into the Pinetum and down to the Wooden Bridge.  Here Peter, leading the short walk with Sue left us and walked along the river to the Stone Bridge.  They crossed the Stone Bridge and walked up Snake Hill, round the front of the Hall, along the Drive into Cuerden Close joining Shady Lane to return up Berkeley Drive - green route and arrows.

From the Wooden Bridge we climbed up into Gravel Hole Wood and then into Dog Kennel Wood.

Leaving Dog Kennel Wood we walked up into the File and down to the Lake

At the bottom of the Dam alongside the Picnic Area I think this is our (well my, they had all walked on when I spotted it) first Orchid this year, it is hiding amongst all the Red Clover

We didn't go into Cock Cabin Wood, Freddie, Alison's dog, Linda feels sorry for him shut up in the office all day so she always gives him a walk.  Today Freddie 'explored' almost every tree and bush.

We came home via the Cinder Path and Sue Ryder's Drive.

Carol joined us for refreshments having walked from home somewhere in the region of Lancaster Lane - blue route

It had been Paul's birthday on Wednesday and he provided the traditional cakes.  He anticipated many more walkers, based on Tuesdays numbers, so there are enough left for next Tuesday!  Michael's turn on Thursday
