Health Walk - Tuesday 14th June 2016

Damp and raining.  Fifteen walkers - Brian, Carmel, Carole, Colin D, Elizabeth H, Ilene, Irene S, Jennifer, Joyce, Linda E, Margaret, Michael, Paul, Peter and Suzie.

Michael was leading and I set off towards the Pinetum.

As we started to descend out of the Pinetum Peter led the short walk up to the viewing area.  From there they returned to the car park and walked down past the new building, which appeared to be a hive of activity this morning, and turned of the path to walk past the sunny (ha ha ha) side of the Hall.  They continued through the gap in the buildings, passing the Cafe, to the other side of the Hall and, keeping left, returned back the the Barn - green route and arrows.

We carried on down to the Wooden Bridge, turning right then left up into Gravel Hole Wood.

Elizabeth drew my attention to this funghi which I struggled to photograph with my new mobile.

I planned to go up into the Cow Field, the cows were resting well to the south of the footpath, but there was a loud voice of dissent so we turned away from the stile and walled through the wood and into Dog Kennel Wood.  We left the wood and walked up into the Field and along to Hawks Clough.  At Hawks Clough we climbed up to the Ponderosa, along Cam Lane and down the steps into Green Wood.

Leaving Hawks Clough I tried to photograph the funghi we'd spotted on our way out.  It's just a white blur in the photo.  It appears to be on the other side of the trunk also and you may just see it hanging down below the trunk.

We dropped down to the Lake

We left the Lake by the short steps and walked across the Stone Bridge, up Snake Hill, and back to the Barn for our well deserved refreshments.

Thanks to all of you for turning up and helping me to enjoy the walk on what could have been a miserable morning but for your company.  You all seemed to enjoy the walk.
