Health Walk - Thursday 19th January 2017

Today we only had twenty-two walkers for another dull, damp day. Only! this time last year we'd have been over the moon with twenty-two walkers.
James was leading the main walk with Michael S as back marker. Peter was leading the Elite walk.
James led off into the Pinetum, down Cardiac Hill and along the Cycle Track to Town Brow car park. We crossed the road at the first opportunity

This moss sets the tone for the Park at the moment. Notice the green and red wood which is a survivor from when the Park was first opened way back at the beginning of the eighties

Leaving the Cycle Track we are walking up the hill to our 'turning back for home' point.
We emerged across from the Ley Inn and set off down Back Lane but James soon took us into Sheep Hill Wood

At the top there's a seated area with a view across the south Park, well the trees have grown since it was first constructed and they now block out the view. You can just see the 'fence' round the area in photos 7 and 8

Back on the Cycle Track passing the Covert Pond (The surface of the Covert Pond isn't usually as clear as this)
We returned up Cardiac Hill and back to the Barn via the Pinetum
The Elite walkers walked down Snake Hill, up to the Lake and round the Lake into Dog Kennel Wood. Passing through Dog Kennel Wood and Gravel Hole Wood they joined the Cycle Track and picked up our trail back to the Barn
