Health Walk - Thursday 23rd February 2017

Today we only had nine walkers turn up for heavy rain and winds gusting up to 80 mph.

Margaret W was leading the main walk with John W as back marker. Peter was the short walk leader.

Margaret and Peter decided the conditions were not safe as the Park walks are mainly through woodland. Margaret got a tick for this decision by Abi but her assessment was rescheduled for next Thursday.

Sadly Margaret was to have been assessed for her leader's certificate by Abi and Harry, Chorley Find your feet Health Walking Scheme Coordinator and assistant!

All the Park warning notices were out and in position.

Michael, Colin and David decided they would walk unofficially so strictly their's wasn't a Health Walk.

They set off to the Stone Bridge

On the Stone Bridge the river underneath was quite high and flowing fast.

We crossed the bridge and going south walked along the Cycle Track to the gate at the end of the track at Town Brow car park.

Here we turned round and retraced our steps

Back at the Stone Bridge the water looked higher and angrier so we thought it was rising but on the bridge it didn't seem any different to when we crossed on the outward walk.

We climbed back up Snake Hill to the Barn

Michael walked round to the workshop to find John sawing more battens. There were three men working on the new building roof which is sheltered to some extent from north, west and south winds.
