Health Walk - Tuesday 23rd January 2018

Photos by Carol W & Michael S - Please click on photos to see a larger one

Today we had fifty twalkers who were rewarded with a lovely dry walk even though it was very wet underfoot however James designed a route with very little mud and few puddles

James led the main walk with Elizabeth M back marking.  Susan S led the Elite group with Colin C back marking.

James introduced himself and Elizabeth and the two new walkers, Kathryn and Victoria.  He went on to outlined his plans.

You may have noticed that Michael S is wearing a leader's jacket.  We thought some walkers may want to divert but as it turned out Michael wasn't needed, officially he was mid marker.

There are more photos of Michael in this report than all the previous reports put together thanks to Carol!

We came into Sheep Hill Wood and wended our way, past 'The Top of the World' back to Sheep Hill Lane crossing back into the Park and walked along the Cycle Track.

James had planned to take the easier climb back up Snake Hill but the leading walkers voted with their feet and headed over the

We came across Ester, Volunteer Ranger, clearing the path and digging a groove which was successfully draining the water away.  Thanks very much Ester, this path has been treacherous recently with the snow and ice

As you can see Michael has been left way behind as everyone by now had passed through the Pinetum and arrived at the Barn

The short option walkers, the 'Elite' group are assembling outside the barn to the right of the main group.  Suzi is gathering them together, all seventeen of them, before she led them off round the side of the Barn to Sue Ryder's Drive and along the Cinder Path

They entered Cock Cabin Wood and immediately turned right then continued anti-clockwise through the wood, round the pond and out into Walkers Wood.

They crossed the Stone Bridge, walked along the river, crossed the Wooden Bridge and climbed Cardiac Hill into the Pinetum, up the side to pass the new building and back to the Barn
