Health Walk - Thursday 20th September 2018

Photos by Michael S - Please click on photos to see a larger one

Today we had twenty-nine walkers - Thursday's average so far this year is 26.4 so 29 is a good turnout

We had a dry sometimes sunny morning

David H led the main walk with Irene S back marking.

Suzi led the Elite walk with Colin C back marking.

David took us through the Car Park and on to Berkeley Drive walking round the Barn and on to Cuerden Hall Drive where we walked down and entered the Cinder Path

From the Cinder Path we

walked along the Cycle Path to Cock Cabin Wood.  Leaving Cock Cabin Wood David took us into Walkers Wood, down Bikers Hill, over the Stone Bridge, round the Picnic Area, along the bottom of the Dam and up the Long Steps where

we met the Elite walkers waiting for us to get out of the way.  Like us they had walked up through the Car Park but had entered the Pinetum by the sculpted head and turned immediately down the path on the left and descended out of the Pinetum down Cardiac Hill, walking to climb up into Gravel Hole Wood, through Dog Kennel Wood emerging to walk round the Lake.

David took us round the Lake, through the Kissing Gate, up the steps on to Cam Lane, passed Hawks Clough and up passed the Ponderosa where someone said it had been sold.

We continued along Cam Lane

dropping down into Green Wood.  Leaving Green Wood we rejoined Cam Lane at Hawks Clough and walked along Cam Lane

to go through the Kissing gate.

Here David decided that we were going to be late back so he proposed continuing along Cam Lane and over the

looked at sky.  I've tampered with this photo trying to make it more dramatic

I got up, taking this photo and followed the walkers, now out of sight back to the Visitors Centre

The Elite walkers climbed down the Long Steps, walked along the bottom of the Dam and round the Picnic Area and crossed the Stone Bridge heading for Bikers Hill but after some discussion walked across to Snake Hill and recrossed the Stone Bridge to walk along the river, over the Wooden Bridge, up Cardiac Hill into the Pinetum and back to the Visitors Centre.
