Health Walk - Tuesday 2nd October 2018

Today we had forty-five walkers and Paddy.

It could have been a miserable wet morning but it turned out to be a good walk for everyone.

James led the main walk with Elizabeth back marker.   Carmel led the short option (Elite) walk with Suzi S back marker.

Many walkers were anxious when they found out that James was leading and as he outlined his walk stepping stones were mentioned.  The effect was that

twenty-six people lined up behind Carmel who had declined to back mark the main group and she wrestled the lead of the short option from Suzi

James' group are out of sight having entered the Pinetum and were well on their way to the Wooden Bridge.  The turned right and walked along the Cycle Path, myself by now well behind took a short cut along the river and met them at the

Once in the south side of the Park we took the first left up the hill

At the top of the hill and keeping left turning for home.  You can see the 'stair rods' of rain in the blown up photo, quite heavy by now

After a while and a little more climbing up the path we eventually came out on to Back Lane.

We walked down Back Lane to cross Sheep Hill Lane back into the Park and

walked along the avenue of oaks, planted for the Queen Mother's eightieth birthday, there are eighty of them, shortly to be reduced to forty to give the remaining ones space to breathe.

Walking all the way along the Cycle Path to the Wooden Bridge we recrossed and climbed back up Cardiac Hill to the Visitors Centre

As we arrived at the Visitors Centre we could see the new flower bed now resplendent with flora.

The short walkers had not returned!  As you will see from the map Carmel did a normal walk
